Occupational therapy practitioners are uniquely positioned to support maternal-infant health in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and acute pediatric settings. This session explores the expanding role of OT in addressing the emotional, physical, and occupational needs of mothers during their infant’s hospitalization. Participants will examine the impact of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), maternal role disruption, and barriers to co-occupational engagement. Through real-world case examples and clinical discussion, attendees will gain practical tools to integrate maternal health support into pediatric care, promoting holistic outcomes for both mother and infant.
